Gouves is situated in a prime location on the northern coast of Crete, just 18 km east of Heraklion. The settlement is divided into two parts:
the coastal resort of Kato Gouves and the traditional, hillside village of Pano Gouves.
The coastline stretches along the shore with golden sand and shallow waters, making it ideal for children and novice swimmers. A scenic
palm-fringed promenade hosts various cafes, traditional fish taverns, and shops, while the nightlife remains peaceful compared to the
neighboring cosmopolitan resorts.
Beaches & The Sea
- Gouves Beach: A long sandy beach featuring organized sections with umbrellas, sunbeds, and lifeguards. Activities include swimming,

- Nearby Beaches: Within a 5–8 km radius, you will find the beaches of Analipsi and Kokkini Hani, as well as the scenic bays of Hersonissos
